Understanding the treatment
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra® is an injectable treatment made with poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA.
It helps stimulate collagen production, with changes developing gradually. Collagen is part of the structure that supports skin.
The FDA has approved Sculptra for specific facial wrinkles and folds, including fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region in people with a normal immune response. Stephanie will assess whether the treatment fits your concerns and medical history.
Sculptra and hyaluronic acid fillers
These treatments use different materials and offer different ways to approach a concern. Hyaluronic acid, or HA, fillers use a gel that attracts water and adds a filling effect. PLLA treatments develop their effect progressively over several weeks.
Choosing between them involves more than comparing product names. Your anatomy, priorities, previous treatments and comfort with a gradual process all belong in the discussion. Stephanie can explain why one option, a different approach, or waiting may better fit your assessment.

What to expect over time.
Sculptra is a gradual treatment.
A plan may involve more than one session, with time to assess your response between visits. Early fullness after an appointment can include swelling and the fluid used to prepare the product; it should not be treated as the final result.
Before deciding, ask about the proposed sequence, the amount of product, when progress will be assessed, and the likely commitment involved. There is no universal plan that fits every face. Your response may differ from someone else’s photographs or experience.

Velatura is a self-pay practice. The overall cost of Sculptra depends on the proposed treatment, including the amount of product and number of visits. Ask about expected charges across the plan, what follow-up includes, and whether any consultation fee is separate. You may request a written estimate before proceeding.

Which areas can I discuss at Velatura?

Is Sculptra used for lip enhancement?
Sculptra should not be injected into the red portion of the lips. If your goal is lip refinement, begin with Velatura’s dermal filler consultation to discuss appropriate alternatives.
How many sessions will I need?
That requires an assessment. A series may be recommended, but the number of visits and amount used should follow your individual plan. Ask how those recommendations may change as your response is assessed.
How long can results last?
The FDA’s review of a cheek-wrinkle study describes results that may last up to 24 months. That is study information, not a promised duration for an individual. Ask Stephanie what is reasonable to expect for your proposed treatment.
Can I plan Sculptra alongside other skin treatments?
Discuss any planned peels, microneedling or other procedures before scheduling. Timing needs individual review; Sculptra labeling notes potential inflammatory reactions with certain procedures at the treatment site. Your plan should account for healing rather than assume treatments can happen together.
